From ancient practices to modern usage statistics, we provide evidence-based insights and aim to normalize and destigmatize cannabis use. Join us on this journey to informed well-being.

Since ancient times, women have used cannabis to help with numerous gynecological conditions from menstrual pain, childbirth, all the way through menopause (Russo, MD, 2002). MedMen, in collaboration with The Harris Poll conducted a national survey in 2023 that reported: 1 in 3 American women regularly consume cannabis, and that 91% of those women purchase it legally at a dispensary. And the reasons for this usage are largely therapeutic, rather than recreational: 60% of women say that cannabis use helps to relieve their anxiety, 58% rely on it as a sleep aid, and for 53% of women, cannabis functions as pain relief (The Harris Poll & MedMen, 2023).

The average 28 day menstrual cycle is full of events. Depending on the changes happening throughout the different phases of the menstrual cycle, one may experience pain, skin changes, disruptions in sleep, hormonal imbalance, gastrointestinal issues, and more. Unfortunately, stigma persists and most women still keep their consumption secret, no matter the day (Hasse, 2023).
